Before booking:

  • Yes - our missions are designed for tourists as well as locals. No previous knowledge of the area is required.

  • Yes, just book your group into the day that works best for you on an Anytime Ticket. You can then start your mission anytime within the time window specified on your confirmation email. The window for all our games starts at 10am and finishes at a time that ensures your game is not disrupted by sunset. This means in winter our latest start times are usually 4pm, depending on the game you book, and 6pm in summer.

  • Yes - Urban Missions’ automated messaging is all on WhatsApp. This means it doesn't matter whether you have a UK mobile number or not. Provided you have access to roaming data, you can play.

  • Yes, our routes are entirely step-free. It is worth bearing in mind though that there will be a lot of walking involved in our missions - sometimes in busy areas.

  • As the messages are sent via WhatsApp, there is a significant amount of reading involved in the game. Individuals who struggle with reading text on phones may have difficulties playing this game.

  • We plan to provide multilingual versions in the near future, but currently the only language available is English. We do provide 2 hints for every clue, so if you are struggling you can ask for a hint to help you along.


Completing your mission:

  • Yes, all of our routes have break points where you are given the opportunity to pause and stop to relax before continuing your mission.

  • When you arrive at the destination of the mission you have chosen, check your confirmation email. This will provide you with a number and the phrase to message that number in order to start your mission.

    If you have any issues at all with your booking confirmation, please email customersupport@urbanmissions.co.uk.

  • No – provided you are at least 2 players, the team size is entirely your choice. When you arrive and have texted the number provided in the confirmation email, you will be given the option to create teams and split up as you see fit.

    However, we recommend team sizes of 2-5 people, as it can sometimes be hard for everyone to contribute in bigger groups and multiple groups will enable some healthy competition!

  • Yes, you will be asked to create a team name at the beginning of the mission and during your game anyone who texts ‘Join *team name*’ will start receiving the same messages and will be able to respond to them.

  • No – you can play the game using any phone number, so long as you have WhatsApp!

  • Generally, this should only take a few seconds, although your signal strength can influence this. In particular, videos can take a little bit longer to get through to you.


Setting up your mission:

  • Not at all - our entire game takes place from your mobile from start to finish! There is no reception or check-in desk that you'll need to go to before you start.

    Once you arrive, text the number in your confirmation email and you are ready to start playing immediately!

  • All players will receive a confirmation email from Design My Night with all the instructions they need for the day. Please ensure that you have provided the correct email address upon booking your mission.

    If you have booked through a third party, please ensure that they have your most up-to-date contact details. You will receive your confirmation email no more than 8 hours after booking your mission. If you have not received it, please contact customersupport@urbanmissions.co.uk.

    Do not turn up to your start location without having reviewed the instructions in your confirmation email.

  • A phone is the most important thing - you will need this in order to receive your clues. As our missions take approximately 2.5 hours, you will need to ensure your phone has sufficient charge.

    We recommend you bring along a power bank/portable charger if you have one and as this is England, an umbrella never goes amiss. We send videos and voice notes, so we would recommend you bring earphones if you have them.

  • The entire mission takes place via mobile communication, so there is no reception or cloakroom area for you to leave your belongings.

    Therefore, we advise that you only bring essential items that you are happy to carry around for a couple hours.


General Queries:

  • You can pay on our website by clicking on 'book' in the menu and paying by credit or debit card. We only take up-front payments.

  • For groups up to 10 people, you are eligible for a full refund if you cancel your booking up to 24 hours before your scheduled game. For groups over 10 people, you are eligible for a full refund if you cancel your booking up to 72 hours before your scheduled game.

  • We are currently looking at developing new routes that our customers would enjoy and would love some feedback from users.
